Former Warren, Minn., resident John J. Hildenbrand, 84, of Grand Forks, N.D., passed away Friday afternoon, March 8, 2013 at Woodside Village in Grand Forks.
John, the son of John E. and Martha (Kaelberer) Hildenbrand, was born on August 30, 1928 in Bismarck, N.D. He graduated from Bismarck High School and Dakota Business College in Fargo, and attended Macalaster College in St. Paul for one year.
He served in the US Army from 1946 to 1947. On June 24, 1950, John married Marjorie Mount. They moved to Warren, where he worked as an accountant for Nelson Motors for several years.
John was the State Farm Insurance agent in Warren for 43 years. They enjoyed many years at their lake home in Bemidji, and winters in Arizona. He joins his wife, Marj, who died on June 24, 2007, in heaven.
John was a kind, giving and considerate man who was active in his community and church. He was a friendly person who you would often see smiling. John loved serving the Lord and spending time with his family. He truly enjoyed being a State Farm agent and helping people with their insurance needs.
Surviving John are three children, Greg (Nancy) Hildenbrand of Detroit Lakes, Deb (Merle) Stinar of Warre and Doug Hildenbrand of Duluth, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Drew Hildenbrand, Tiffany Danger, Chelsea Hildenbrand, Kari Miska, Rebekah Aakre, Tom Stinar, Josh Hildenbrand, Chris Hildenbrand and Katie Hildenbrand; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Preceding John in death were his parents and wife, Marjorie.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 12 in Grace United Methodist Church, Warren.
Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 18 at DuBore Funeral Home in Warren, and one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.
Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Warren, with ,o;otaru service provided by Warren American Legion Post 27, Warren.
