Johnson joins M State
Erika Johnson brings a broad range of business experience to her new position as incubator manager for Business & Entrepreneurial Services, on the campus of Minnesota State Community and Technical College, Detroit Lakes.
As incubator manager, Johnson will work with entrepreneurs to provide services, advice and counseling for businesses involved in BES incubators, including those in Detroit Lakes and Frazee.
She began working in the position May 2.
"I'm excited to help entrepreneurs find the resources they need to grow and create thriving businesses in our area," said Johnson, whose office is located on the M State - Detroit Lakes campus.
For 15 years, Johnson was a manager at Lakeside in Detroit Lakes, helping to restore the business into a fine dining restaurant and casual bar and grill.
After the sale of Lakeside in 2002, she became executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Detroit Lakes and helped found Natural Innovations, a Detroit Lakes-based non-profit organization focused on environmental education and stewardship where she continues as executive director.
Her passion for environmental education and the power of multi-media led her into the video production business, and she founded South Shore Productions, a video production and project management company.
Her videos have been used as educational tools and documentaries regionally, nationally and internationally.
"We are excited to have Erika on board," said BES Director Beth Pridday."
"She brings a wealth of experience as an entrepreneur and community leader that will be valuable as BES moves forward with its expansion of incubators and services in the region."
