José Cole Circus in Detroit Lakes on March 30

The José Cole Circus will make its annual stop in Detroit Lakes on Monday, March 30, for a 7 p.m. show at the Kent Freeman Arena. Tickets are on sale at Central Market and North Shore Travel Plaza in Detroit Lakes as well as Orton's Tesoro in Audubon.

Roseneath Theatre of Toronto, Canada, presents the beautiful children's tale of "Spirit Horse" live at the Historic Holmes Theatre on Thursday, March 26. This story traces two children and their widowed father trying to hide a wild, white, "spirit" horse in their Calgary apartment. A gift from their grandfather, the Spirit Horse teaches the family to hope again by reconciling "the old ways" of their ancient heritage with their new modern life. Come in to the Detroit Lakes Library from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, March 27 for a scrapbooking class. Basic computer and mouse skills are needed. Class size is limited, so call the library to pre-register at 847-2168.

The sixth annual Sharing the Tradition of Storytelling event is set for Friday, March 27, in the Frazee Event Center. Participants this year include storytellers Patricia Nunn, Michael Cotter, JoAnne Lower and John Peterson. The event begins at 7 p.m. and refreshments will be served. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students.

The Lakes Crisis & Resource Center of Detroit Lakes will have its 19th Annual Banquet on Friday, March 27, with both silent and live auctions, musical entertainment by Tim Eggebraaten and more. Twin Cities-based a capella vocal band Marcoux Corner comes to the Bemidji High School Auditorium for two shows on Friday and Saturday, March 27-28, at 7 p.m. This four piece a cappella group combines over 20 years of voice lessons and vocal study at one of the country's most prestigious colleges for vocal performance, Concordia College in Moorhead. Featured guests will be Vocalmotive and La Voce Ballo. Tickets for both shows are $12 and are available at Overbek's KRKB Music Outlet and Lueken's North in Bemidji.

The José Cole Circus will be making a stop at Detroit Lakes' Kent Freeman Arena on Monday, March 30, for a 7 p.m. show. Sponsored by Knights of Columbus Council 3166 of Detroit Lakes, the show will include a mixture of clowns, aerial artists, live animal acts and more. Tickets are available at Central Market and North Shore Travel Plaza in Detroit Lakes as well as Orton's Tesoro in Audubon through 5 p.m. on March 29, and will also be on sale at the door. Cost is $9 for adults and $6 for children. A portion of the proceeds will go towards local charitable projects.

It's that sweet time of year again! Come and join the community of Vergas for the 10th Annual Maple Syrup Festival. Fresh pancakes topped with pure maple syrup will be served Saturday, April 4, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Vergas Community Center. In the 1980s, Kevin Bacon stepped onto the big screen in a pair of worn out jeans and a t-shirt and danced his way into the hearts of women and teenage girls in a movie called "Footloose." The Vietnam Traveling Wall is coming to the Chas. D. Center Post 3289 in New York Mills from June 3-8. Local VFWs are accepting donations for this event to happen.
