Former Ogema resi-dent Joyce D. Kozitka, 87, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Essentia Health in Far-go.

Funeral services for Joyce were set for 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) in Beautiful Savior Luther-an Church, Callaway.

Visitation was at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and continuing for one hour prior to today's service.

Interment will be held in the spring at the Ogema City Cemetery.

Joyce Derema Kozitka was born to Delbert and Jeannette (Helliksen) Liezert on January 23, 1926, in rural Ogema, Spring Creek Township. She attended Spring Creek Township Country School, Ogema Elemen-tary, and graduated from Waubun High School.

During World War II, she worked in St. Cloud at an airplane factory, building military transport planes. Follow-ing the war, she was unit-ed in marriage to Clar-ence Joseph Kozitka. To-gether they operated a dairy farm in rural Ogema area, where Joyce continued to operate the farm with her children until her retirement.

Joyce enjoyed working at Tilton's Ceremic Shop. She also enjoyed garden-ing, tending to her lawn, family camping trips, canning, visiting rela-tives and friends, cooking and baking (she was known for her delicious buns and bread), travel-ing, along with her farm dogs and horses, Joyce made a loving home for all her family and throughout the years cre-ated many memories that will be cherished forever.

Joyce was an active member of Beautiful Sav-ior Lutheran Church, (Ogema/Callaway) throughout her life, and was involved with many church activities.

Survivors include her children, Curt (Dawn), Janice (Tom), Wayne (Lorrie), Betty (Robert), Steve (Jane), Dinah, Walt (Jane), Connie (Dave), Rick (Joyce) and Jim (Tracy); 25 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one sister, Helen Brehm; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her hus-band, she was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Jeannette Liezert; son, Gerald Kozitka; and one grand-son, Mike Teiken.

We thank everyone for the many years of friend-ship, love, and support to mom and family.
