Judith Lee "Judy" Collins, 72, of Payson, Ariz., died peacefully on Monday, July 1, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by family and friends at her home.
Judy Lee Shoemaker was born December 12, 1940 to Leo and Shirley (Hall) Shoemaker. Judy grew up in Sioux Falls, S.D., graduating from Washington High School. She worked at Eros Data Center for many years.
Judy then moved to the Washington, D.C., area, where she worked at EOSAT and Hughes Corp. before retiring.
After retirement, Judy moved to Payson, Ariz., where she worked at State Farm Insurance until health issues forced her to leave.
Judy was an amazing mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all!
Surviving Judy are her five children, John Collins, Julia Collins (Dave Hrusovsky), and Jill Nordquist, all of Sioux Falls, S.D., Jackie Collins of Omaha, Neb., and Jeannie Collins of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren, Patrick Collins, Clayton and Carson Hrusovsky, and one great grandson, Carter Brendan Collins, all of Sioux Falls; four siblings, John (Lynne) Shoemaker of Payson, Jim (Marnie) Shoemaker, Jill Mickelson and Jeff (Marcie) Shoemaker, all of Detroit Lakes; numerous nephews and nieces; and special friends Charlotte Van Bockern and Peggy Lien of Sioux Falls.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Leo and Shirley Shoemaker.
Judy is now pain free and at peace with the Lord! There are no services planned.
