Karol Pearson, 86, of Moorhead died October 4, 2010 at Encore Nursing Mome in Ellicott City, Maryland, after having a stroke on July 29, 2010.
Karol Gunard Pearson was born the son of Hilma (Lundin) and Oscar Pearson on November 1, 1923, in Detroit Lakes. He and his four sisters (Virginia, Evelyn, Genevieve and Anna) attended Detroit Lakes Schools.
Karol drove school district buses, drove a milk route, and operated a livestock feedlot in rural Detroit Lakes.
Karol married Nancy Peterson in Moorhead on July 6, 1957. In 1960 they moved to Georgetown, where he farmed until he moved to Moorhead in 2005. In addition to agriculture, Karol's interests included hunting and gardening.
Karol was active in a number of agricultural organizations and served on their boards, and received many awards for his entries in crop shows. He was a member of Kirkebo Lutheran Church in Perley, Minn., and served on the board of the Kirkebo Cemetery Association.
Surviving Karol are his daughters Jane (Nicholas) Ialongo of Woodbine, Md., and Kyle (Otilio) Arzola of Chicago, Ill.; a granddaughter, Jena Ialongo; a sister, Genevieve (Tietge) of Satellite Beach, Fla.; eight nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters and one nephew.
A memorial gathering will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead.
A memorial service is set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at Kirkebo Lutheran Church, Perley, with interment in the church cemetery.
