Kathryn L. Muench, 60, of rural Frazee, died unexpectedly, though peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at her residence.

Kathryn Louise Muench was born to Carl and Marie (Walberg) Lundberg on October 1, 1952 in Detroit Lakes. She grew up and received her education in Detroit Lakes, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1971. On January 8, 1972 she was united in marriage to Jody Muench in Detroit Lakes.

Kathy owned and operated the Lady Slipper Limousine Service in Detroit Lakes for several years and later worked as a corrections officer for the Becker County Sheriff's Department for 15 years.

Kathy was a loving and faithful mom and wife. She was a very special sister, aunt, daughter, grandma, cousin and friend. She was a fun loving person with a great sense of humor. She was an extraordinary gardener, who was very skilled in growing beautiful flowers. She also loved her Great Pyrenees dogs.

One of her favorite things to do was going to rummage sales, flea markets, and antique shops in search of a good bargain.

Surviving Kathryn are her husband, Jody; one daughter, Megan (Brian Anderson) Muench of Frazee; one son, Jon Gustovson of San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren, Alexis and Cole Gustovson; her mother, Marie Lundberg of Detroit Lakes; one brother, Roger (Karen) Lundberg of Detroit Lakes; two sisters, Jan (Ron) Anderson of Rochert and Lois (George) Welsch, of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister-in-law, Betty (Lyle) Danielson, of Long Prairie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death were her father, Carl Lundberg and her brother, Richard Lundberg.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 in Lund Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes.

Visitation was 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25 at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
