Former Detroit Lakes resident Kathryn H. Wendt, 65, of Mapleton, Minn., died Friday, November 4, 2011 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Mankato.
Kathryn Hendrickson was born to Joseph and Viola (Anderson) Hendrickson on September 4, 1946 in Alameda, Calif. She attended school and graduated from high school in Detroit Lakes.
Kathryn held many jobs during her life in the retail industry. She was married to Robert Wendt on October 24, 1964. They made their home in Detroit Lakes, where they raised their two children, Christine and Michael.
Kathryn enjoyed reading, gardening, playing cards, relaxing at the lake and spending time with family and friends, especially her nieces, Erica, Sara, Carly and Remy.
Surviving Kathryn are her two children, daughter Christine (Michael) Small and son, Michael (Kari) Wendt, both of Detroit Lakes; her eight grandchildren, Megan, Catherine, Mark, Allison, Ryan, Kayla, Taryn and Rylie; three sisters, Cheryl (Eric) Oehlerich of Mapleton, Karen (Ralph) Houston of Lexington, Ky., and Joyce Nolte of Anchorage, Alaska; brother, Alfred Hendrickson of Eugene, Ore.; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Kenneth Pederson.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes.
