Kathy M. Dugger, 64, of Detroit Lakes, died Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at her residence, under the care of her family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Kathy M. Dugger was born to George and Julia Phillips Williams on July 14, 1945 in St. Paul. As a young girl, she moved to Detroit Lakes, where she grew up and received her education. She attended Washington Elementary School and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1963.

On June 1, 1963 Kathy married Weston Dugger in Detroit Lakes. They made their home in Mountain Home, Idaho before returning to the Toad Lake area of rural Detroit Lakes in 1965. In 1967 they moved into Detroit Lakes. After raising her children, Kathy enjoyed a variety of careers over the years. She worked for Evans/Holiday Village grocery as a deli cook. She later worked at the V.F.W. and the Elks Club, in charitable gambling. She worked at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen as a cashier, and most recently as a customer service manager for Walmart.

Kathy also worked with the Becker County Sheriff's Department for nearly 25 years as an auxiliary officer. Her hobbies included hunting, especially bear, and annual Montana trips. Last season she took a Black Bear that was scored as the largest ever recorded in Becker County. She also enjoyed fishing, camping, her pets, feeding the birds, family reunions and being the favorite "auntie." She was also an avid Minnesota Viking fan.

Surviving Kathy are her husband, Butch; two sons, Jeff (Mary) Dugger of Detroit Lakes and Donnie Dugger, of Rochert; one daughter, Diana (Mark Busker) Dugger of Detroit Lakes; six grandchildren; close family friend, Wade Olds of Detroit Lakes; one sister, Rose Steele of Detroit Lakes; and three brothers, Don Williams of Detroit Lakes, Ralph (Sherlene) Williams of Detroit Lakes and Jim Williams, of New Town, N.D.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, George Williams Jr.; two sisters, Eileen Talbot and Betty Jones; and one niece, Judy Peterson.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7 at West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8 at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, with the Rev. Dan C. Abrahams officiating.

Casket bearers will be Brian Maloney, Mike Johnson, Danny Johnson, Larry Oelfke, Erv Cahlin and Paul Goecke. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
