Keith Allan Olson, 62, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 3, 2013 in Falls Church, Va.
Keith was born on June 9, 1950 in Detroit Lakes; confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church; was selected for the Outward Bound program; and graduated as salutatorian from Detroit Lakes High School in 1968.
After graduating from Michigan State University, East Lansing, Mich., in 1972, with degrees in computer science and electrical engineering, he worked in Korea for two years as part of a program with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, installing computer systems for South Korean businesses.
He accepted a position with Booz Allen Hamilton, where he worked as a computer specialist before joining SAIC, a consulting firm for governmental agencies, working as a senior systems analyst from December 1986 until his death.
His intention of retiring at the end of 2012 was not fulfilled.
Keith was an organ donor, and three recipients received transplants of his kidneys and liver.
Keith never married, but had an active life, with training to the level of black belt in Tae Kwon Do; he also was a rock climber, in line skater, handball player and swordsman (epee). He also loved to read and was well-versed in a number of subjects.
Surviving Keith are two sisters, June Knopp of Grand Forks, N.D., and Sharon Davidson of Avon Lake, Ohio; two brothers, Loren Olson of Oregon City, Ore., and Harley Olson of Detroit Lakes; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Paul Olson (1980) and Duane Olson (2011); his parents, Ernest C. Olson and Elsie (Reese) Olson; and grandparents, Fred Reese, Amelia (Peters) Reese, G. Albert Olson and Anna (Hanson) Olson.
Keith's ashes will be buried on June 29 at Lakeview Cemetery in Lakeview Township.
