Former Detroit Lakes resident Kenneth S. Conroy, 76, of Sunnyvale, Calif., died Sunday, June 16, 2013 at his home in Sunnyvale.
Funeral services took place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 25 in David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes; with visitation for one hour prior to the service.
Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
Kenneth Steven Conroy was born to E. P. and Vera (Christensen) Conroy on June 17, 1936 in Moorhead. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Detroit Lakes, where he graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1954. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in electrical engi-neering from NDAC (now North Dakota State University) in 1958 and was later awarded a Master's of Science Degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Kenneth spent the majority of his working life in the Silicon Valley of California, retiring in 1995. He was an avid reader, especially of military history. He was also a member of Theta Chi Fraternity.
Survivors include a brother, John (Ann) Conroy of Northport, Ala.; a niece, Kristy (Cory) Stevenson of Madison, Ala.; nephews, Steven (Barbara) Brown of Richland, Wash., and David Brown of Red Wing, Minn.; grandnephews Christopher, Michael and Matthew Brown; and a niece-in-law, Kendra Brown.
Preceding him in death were his sister, Katherine Brown and a nephew, Dan Brown.
