Kids receive bikes, safety lessons during Bike Rodeo
Bike Rodeo participants learned bicycle safety skills on Saturday April 26 in the Kent Freeman Arena.
Hosted by the Detroit Lakes Active Living Committee, the fun bike obstacle course along with a safety inspection and helmet fittings attracted 64 students, 25 volunteers and 60 parents.
Six youth won a new bike supplied by the DL Bike Shop. Winners of the 24-inch bikes were Parker McSorley and David Arthur. Winners of the 20-inch bikes were Faith and Grace Manning, Reed Anderson and Oakley Shroyer.
The purpose of the event is to get more people moving — children and families — and to move safely.
A fun new feature this year was the addition of an active hula hoop station by The Happy Hippy Hoop Company.
