Lady Hornets rout Perham
The Frazee Lady Hornet basketball team came out hot from the three-point line early in the first half to help them coast to a 74-43 victory over Perham in Heart O'Lakes conference action Monday night in Frazee.
Led by Josi Tappe's 4-for-4 effort from the behind the arc in the first half, Frazee ended the first half 7-for-10 on three pointers as they took a comfortable 43-19 lead.
The Lady Hornets continued the onslaught in the second half scoring the first 11 points to take an insurmountable 54-19 lead.
From there, every Lady Hornet that dressed some action on the court as Frazee ran their winning streak to five games.
Alexis Tappe led Frazee with 22 points and six assists. Josi Tappe added a career high 18 points off the bench to go with four assists and three steals. Ashley Bachmann had nine points, and Kennady Barlund chipped in with eight points.
"I was really pleased with our execution in the first half," head coach Dave Conzemius said. "We came out and asserted ourselves early and also shot the ball well."
Frazee (12-2 overall, 3-1 HOL) shot 50 percent for the game (28-for-56) which included 11-for-16 from the three-point line. Perham (0-13 overall, 0-5 HOL) shot 38.3 percent (18-for-47).
The Lady Hornets are back in action on Friday when they travel to Hawley. On Saturday, Frazee will face Crookston at Concordia College at 7:45 p.m.
Crookston is 10-2, while Hawley holds a record of 8-3 on the season.
"These next two games will be a tough challenge, no doubt," Conzemius added.
"But our kids are excited and looking forward to the challenge."
