Lady Hornets snap losing streak against Henning
The Frazee Lady Hornets returned to the court for the first time since Dec.9th and responded with a solid performance Tuesday night as they broke a three-game losing streak with a 67-57 win at Henning.
"The girls were anxious to get back into some game action," head coach Dave Conzemius said. "This was a good game for us against a solid Henning team and hopefully this will get us on the right track."
In the battle of the Hornets (the nickname for both teams) Frazee (2-3 overall record) jumped out to an early 14-4 lead only to see Henning (5-2 overall record) battle back and tie the game at halftime at 25-25.
Frazee slowly worked the lead up to nine points at 48-39 in the second half before Henning used eight straight free throws followed by a basket to take their only lead of the game at 49-48 with just over five minutes left.
Frazee responded on their next possession with a Taylor Tappe basket while she was fouled. She converted the free throw and Frazee followed with another free throw and an Alexis Tappe 3-pointer to push the lead to six points.
Henning hit a couple of 3-pointers down the stretch but Frazee hit eight of their last nine free throws to clinch the victory.
"I was really happy with our play down the stretch," Conzemius said. "We took care of the ball and hit the free throws that we needed to. It was a good team effort."
McKinzie Tangen led a balanced effort for Frazee with 16 points and five rebounds. Alexis Tappe had 15 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and three steals. Heidi Seeger, in her first action of the season added 10 points off the bench and Taylor Tappe had a team-high five assists. Eight different players scored for Frazee.
Frazee is back in action on Thursday when they travel to Ulen-Hitterdal.
