Lady Hornets take the win
After a week with rainouts and an open schedule, the Frazee Lady Hornets were back in action on Friday versus Walker/Hackensack-Akeley, taking down the Wolves 10-0.
The week layoff didn’t seem to affect the Lady Hornets as they controlled all aspects of the game.
They scored four times in the first inning, three in the third, one in the fourth and eventually two more in the bottom of the seventh to win via the 10-run rule.
For the game, the Lady Hornets scored their 10 runs on seven hits, eight walks and two Walker errors.
Taylor Tappe and Kennady Barlund led the Hornets with two hits apiece, while Jaden Ketter, Autumn Mahoney and Kaysee Gerving had one hit a piece.
W-H-A on the other hand, had just two hits for the game and were unable to pose a threat past the first inning when a base hit and two walks loaded the bases.
Jo Shipman handled the pitching duties for the Lady Hornets and she struck out eight Walker batters, while giving up two hits and three walks.
The win pushes the Lady Hornets record to 10-2 on the season with one regular season week of games to go.
