Pressure defense, some lane driving and dominating rebounding were more than enough for the Lake Park-Audubon boys' basketball team to thump visiting Frazee by the score of 73-36 Thursday.

It's been those three aspects which the Raiders have keyed on this season and Thursday in Audubon, they all came to together -- at the expense of the Hornets.

"We needed to attack the basket and our guards were able to find the guys who were open after driving the lane," said LP-A head coach Luke Isaacson. "We were able to knock down some three's early to help loosen up the defense in the middle."

The Raiders nailed three treys in a row, which essentially broke Frazee's back and extend a 24-16 lead into a 33-16 edge.

The three-point parade was sparked by junior guard Mitch Knudsvig at the 4:39 mark and promptly followed by a pair of treys from senior guard Jake Lunde.

"Those three's were just huge to open our offense up," Isaacson said.

The Raiders controlled the tempo and forced numerous turnovers with some pressure defense, as LP-A gained plenty of easy points off of steals, leading to transition layups.

But when the LP-A shooters were off, they received second and third opportunities after a solid job on the offensive boards.

"We don't have a lot of size, so we have been crashing the boards hard to get those second chances," the LP-A coach said.

Frazee had a difficult time breaking the Raiders' trap-defense, which resulted in a bevy of turnovers and a wide margin of possessions by LP-A.

By halftime, the Raiders led 41-20, and didn't take their foot off the gas to start the second, with a 17-8 run in the first seven minutes of play.

LP-A had 10 players in the scoring column, with guard Jesse Wixo netting 18 points, while Mitch Knudsvig and Jake Lunde each recorded 12.

Frazee was led by junior forward Chris Burt with 13 points and junior guard Storm Green with 11.

The Raiders (3-2) will play in the Concordia College Holiday Tournament Dec. 28-30, while the Hornets (0-5) will be at Pelican Rapids Tuesday and the Park Rapids Tournament Dec. 29.
