Lake Park-Audubon volleyball scores sweep over Waubun
The Lake Park-Audubon volleyball team continued to ride the momentum of its come-from-behind win over Climax/Fisher Tuesday with a three-game sweep over Waubun Thursday on the Bombers' home court.
Despite taking all three games by the scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-19, Raider head coach Mike Summers said it was a difficult matchup against the Bombers' "unconventional" offensive scheme.
"Overall it wasn't a great game for us," Summers said. "I think it had a lot to do with some of the stuff coming at us from the other side of the net."
But Summers was pleased with the way the Raider girls responded to the challenge, claiming victory without dropping a game.
Senior outside hitter Emily Sunram led LP-A's offense with 9 kills, while Carissa Raaen finished with 6 and Becca Schermer and Bailee Bartunek had 5 each.
Senior right hitter Emma Ulmer also generated some offense with her strong serving, as she finished the night with five ace serves.
Bartunek led the way in digs with 19, while Cheyanne Nelson, Sunram and Ulmer each finished with 9.
Ulmer also led in assists with 15, while junior setter Rilee Burnside had 11 on the night.
The win also keeps the Raiders (11-12) on pace to reach .500, as they will take their winning streak back home for the final game of the regular season, a 7 p.m. contest against Bagley on Tuesday. The Raiders will also celebrate Parents' Night that evening.
