Lake Park man’s trial set in child porn case

A jury trial is set for April 21 in federal court for a Lake Park man charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.

John Elof Seley Sr., 50, was indicted Sept. 24 by a federal grand jury on charges of felony possession of child pornography and felony distribution of child pornography.

The crimes allegedly occurred in 2010.

The possession charge involves five video files and the distribution charge involve five computer photo files, all that he allegedly received and sent via the Internet and, judging by their titles, depict sex acts with young children.

FBI agents seized two computer towers, a computer, and three external hard drives that allegedly were used by Seley.

On Sept. 26, bond was set at $25,000 in his case, and the next day he entered a plea of innocent.

His attorney is Craig Ritchie of Fargo.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Calhoun-Lopez is prosecuting the case. It is being heard before Judge John R. Tunheim, who is chambered in Minneapolis.
