Laker JV off to a 2-3 start to season
The Detroit Lakes junior varsity team started out with a 2-3 record, which began with a 7-4 win against Wadena-Deer Creek.
Trey Lyngaas led the team with two hits and Andrew Dahl had a key hit in the bottom of the sixth inning and drove in three runs.
Austin Warren pitched well in the victory and Cooper Heimark got the save.
The Lakers traveled to Perham and lost twice by a pair of 8-3 scores.
DL made some key errors in both games which made two close games into equal final scores.
All three pitchers did well for the Lakers, but defensive mistakes were the difference, said DL head coach Mike Even.
Cooper Heimark, James Huwe and Matt Haire pitched.
Chandler Gray and John Schumacher led the team in game two with two hits each.
The Lakers split with Pequot Lakes, as DL one game one 6-5, while Pequot Lakes took game two 11-3.
Heimark won on the mound and Matt Haire earned the save.
Warren had three hits on the day and Jalen Young had two hits in the second game.
