Last holiday season was deadly on the roads, use caution this year, says state Department of Public Safety
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is stressing safe driving during the Christmas holiday following a deadly 2007 when 11 motorists were killed between Dec. 21- 25. Of those killed, six were not wearing seat belts and three were killed in alcohol-related crashes.
The Christmas holiday will be accompanied by enhanced, statewide DWI patrols continuing throughout December. During 2005-2007 over the holiday period more than 1,700 motorists were arrested for DWI.
