LaVerne E. Woolever, 90, of Detroit Lakes, died Friday, January 16, 2009 at the Lamplighter Manor in Detroit Lakes.

LaVerne was born to Axel and Clara (Landt) Ohman on July 3, 1918 in rural Audubon, where she grew up and attended country school. She later attended Lake Park High School, graduating from there in 1935.

LaVerne married Vernon Kaatz in 1936 and they farmed south of Audubon. Vernon died in 1943, and in 1944 she married Elmer Anderson. They moved to Detroit Lakes. Elmer died in 1949, and in 1951 she married William Woolever. They lived in Detroit Lakes, where she worked in the kitchen at both the junior and senior high Schools. She later worked in housekeeping at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. LaVerne and Bill wintered in Arizona for 11 years.

LaVerne liked camping, bowling, playing cards, telling jokes, and riding motorcycles. She also loved fishing -- especially time spent in the fish house. She was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan, and was known for her homemade donuts. Above all she loved time spent with her family.
