Law enforcement cracking down on drinking and driving
For some people, drinking and tubing usually mean drinking and driving afterwards. Law enforcement is cracking down.
Detroit Lakes Police, Becker County Sheriff's office and state troopers are all taking part in the safe and sober program. They are using the Bat-Mobile, an Rv-like command unit that processes drunk drivers. Troopers handed out 15 DUI's the past two days in the county alone.
Robert Strand of the Detroit Lakes Police Department says: "the river is a hopping spot as usual, with that we have additional enforcement efforts with the state patrol through operation night cap where we are targeting highway 34 in the river area."
