Leona J. Bisson, 75, of Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 15 in St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Interment will be in the Ogema Cemetery.
Leona J. Bisson was born May 12, 1934 in Walsh County near Forest River, N.D. She was raised and educated near Forest River. She moved to Chicago, Ill., returning to Forest River. Leona was united in marriage to Seldon Bisson August 16, 1957 in Washington, D.C. They lived in Washington until moving to the Detroit Lakes area in 1965.
During her working life, Leona was employed by Sunnyside Nursing Home in Lake Park; Swift & Company in Detroit Lakes; the Detroit Lakes Holiday Inn; and West Central Turkey Processing in Pelican Rapids. Seldon died in 1993 and Leona retired in 1998.
Leona enjoyed playing bingo, making rugs and her worship at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda (Sanford) Beutner of Lake Park, Barb (Jeff) Hanson of Detroit Lakes and Shellie (Kevin) Racer of Osage; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Harry Hefta Jr. of Forest River and a sister, Anna Mae (Roger) DeVries of Battle Mountain, Nev.
In addition to her husband, Seldon, she was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Amelia (Briskey) Hefta; and a great grandson, Eric S. Hoopman.
