A memorial service will be held for Leslie Ralph Mischke, 82, of Detroit Lakes, at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 in Trinity Lutheran Church, New York Mills, with Pastor Kirk Douglas officiating.
Military honors will be provided by the Charles D. Center VFW Post 3289 of New York Mills and the Minnesota Army National Guard, Honor Guard.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, New York Mills.
Leslie Ralph Mischke was born on January 9, 1931 in Culbertson, Mont. His parents were the late Paul and Mabel (Schwen-ke) Mischke.
Leslie served in the United States Army from April 21, 1950 to April 20, 1953 and reenlisted on October 6, 1955. He was honorably discharged on October 3, 1958.
On June 27, 1957 Leslie was united in marriage to Elaine Marie Hammje at Ft. Ord, California, where he was stationed. They later lived in Seaside, Calif., for two years and then moved to Lake County, Ill., where Leslie employed with Interna-tional Harvester and Handi Ramp as a machin-ist and welder.
In 1993, Leslie retired and he and Elaine made their home in Detroit Lakes. Elaine passed away on March 27, 2008 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
Leslie enjoyed yard work, gardening, hunt-ing, fishing and grilling
On February 20, 2013 Leslie passed away at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, at 82 years of age. He will be dearly missed by his fam-ily and friends.
Preceding Leslie in death were his parents; wife; son, Douglas; broth-er, Hurley; sister, Myrl Behncke; and brother-in-law, Howard Hintsala.
Surviving Leslie are his daughter, Elizabeth (David) Beauchamp of Grand Ledge, Mich.; son, Greg (Lisa) Mischke of Denver, Colo.; six grand-children; three great grandchildren; sister, Ann Hintsala of New York Mills; many other relatives and a host of friends
