Lester Norfield Lade, 86, of rural Detroit Lakes, died Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at his home, under the care of Hospice and his family.
Lester, the son of David and Anna (Gloxzin) Lade, was born on July 31, 1927 in Millerville, Minn. He attended country school in rural Ashby.
Lester was united in marriage to Eleanore Sternberg on October 18, 1950 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Ottertail County. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Duluth and later to Rothsay.
In 1954, they purchased their farm in rural Detroit Lakes. Lester worked at Swift for a few years and eventually started their dairy farm, which Lester and Eleanore ran for 42 years.
Lester enjoyed playing the accordion and piano. He truly enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and grandchildren.
Surviving Lester are his wife, Eleanore Lade of rural Detroit Lakes; son, Wesley (Bonnie) Lade of rural Detroit Lakes; three grandchildren, Kyle (Beth) Lade, Alyson (Todd) Jensen and Troy (Jathany) Lade; five great grandchildren, Brodi, Macy, Tally, Brooklyn and Paige; one brother, Willard (Betty) Lade of Long Prairie; one sister, Phyllis Brevig of Edina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Lester in death were his parents; daughter, Sharon Lade; one brother, Norman Lade; and two sisters, Vivian Robertson and Lucille Lade.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 in Augustana Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes, with visitation for one hour prior to services.
