In mid-June national news reports the millions of dollars of revenue the state of California will reap in the wake of 'legalizing' same sex marriages. On June 23, California reported the worst outbreak of wildfires (over 1,200) in a single day, thrusting the country to a National Preparedness level 5(the highest it can go), invoking the aid of the National Guard and costing hundreds of millions of dollars. Is this a mere coincidence?

Past hurricanes, 9/11 terrorist attacks, ongoing wars, massive flooding in the mid-west, tornadoes increasing not just numerically but in intensity, an economy (indebted in the trillions of dollars) severely shaken and having signs of getting worse and bankruptcies and home foreclosures at an all time high...the list goes on. It does not appear these are signs that God is blessing America as much as He is trying to get its attention and wake us up. Is anyone really listening?

We live in such a time when anyone says anything other than 'peace and safety' is labeled an extremist. Ephesians, however, a book in the New Testament Bible, states,

"'Awake you who sleep, Arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.' See then that you walk carefully, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is (5:14-17).'"

America seems to have lost its Biblical and therefore moral compass for any sense of true direction or enlightenment. It is imperative we 'understand what the will of the Lord is.' Simply stated, God is long suffering with us and not wanting any to perish but all come to repentance in the true loving/intimate/relational knowledge of Him, through His Son Jesus Christ (see 2 Peter 3:9 & John 3:16). That's not only Good News, but news worth listening to!
