Letter: Bird Fest was a good time
It was my great pleasure to speak at the The Festival of Birds held in Detroit Lakes recently. It was an honor to co-lead field trips to Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge and Felton Prairie.
I very much enjoyed spending time with the wonderful group of folks in attendance. They were way beyond nice.
Henry David Thoreau said, "In wildness is the preservation of the world." In the Detroit Lakes area, there is wildness enough to soothe the stress of daily life and to provide a window to observe the mysteries and the glories that are nature. It is a place that makes life better.
Coming to Detroit Lakes is always a good idea.
My thanks to all the good people whose hard work and vision make the Festival of the Birds the incredible event that it is.
I had a swell time! -- Al Batt, Writer/Sto
