Letter: Go vegan this Fourth of July
This Fourth of July, caring Americans can help win freedom for animals on factory farms by adopting a vegan diet. Animals value their lives just as we value ours. They yearn to be with their loved ones, feel the warmth of the sun, breathe fresh air, and feel grass beneath their feet. They feel pain every bit as much as we do, are terrified by the sights and smells of the slaughterhouse, and are afraid to die. Like us, animals fight for their lives and struggle to avoid suffering.
You can help animals this Independence Day -- and every other day of the year -- simply by not eating them. Check out www.VegCooking.com for vegetarian recipes, product suggestions, and cool vegetarian cookout ideas. -- Heather Moore, Senior Writer, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
