Letter: Steel building may be LP-A's answer to new school
Soon the LPA School Referendum comes to a vote again and with a slowing economy, I don't believe there is much chance of it passing. Being an Audubon business owner but not a school district resident, I have no vote!
The way I see it, the school board and superintendent want to build buildings the district voters cannot afford and will not approve, so why not try to do something that can be done.
A Pre-Engineered Steel Building may be the answer. I have done some cost investigation and found you can build an 18,000 sq ft building including concrete work and the interior finished for about $3.5 million per building. Approximately $7 million for 2 buildings is cost effective and probably affordable.
