Letter: Thanks for a successful 'Mitten Tree Project'
The Damien Society Mitten wishes to thank the entire community for a successful "Mitten Tree Project" again this year. The generous donations of mittens, hats, and scarves from throughout our region demonstrate the true spirit of Christmas.
Close to 500 items from the trees were distributed to children and adults in need through local schools, the Boys and Girls Club, Anishinabe Center, Lakes Crisis Center, Emmanuel Nursing Center and Community Education.
We wish to thank especially the Detroit Lakes Tribune, KDLM and KRCQ Radio, Norby's Department Store and Channels 3 and 14 for the promotion of this project. The following business also hosted trees for the donations to be made: Wells Fargo Bank, First Security Bank, Bremer Bank, Midwest Bank, American National Bank, State Bank & Trust, Central Market, St. Mary's Living Community, Lakeshirts, the DL A.M. Rotary Club, the Detroit Lakes Community Center, the Speak Easy, and Jack Chivers Realty.
With this generosity, we will continue to make ours a "warm" community. Thank You! -- Carla Hansen, for the Damien Society
