Letter: Thanks for successful Mitten Tree Project

The Damien Society wishes to thank the entire community for another successful “Mitten Tree Project” this year. The generous donations of mittens, hats and scarves demonstrate the true spirit of Christmas and we appreciate all of you who have made this a part of your holiday tradition.

We collected and distributed almost 900 items this year to children and adults throughout our area including schools, Head Start, Boys and Girls Club, The Refuge and the Lakes Crisis Center.

We would also like to thank the Detroit Lakes Newspapers, KDLM, Norby’s Department Store and Arvig for the promotion of this project. The following businesses hosted trees for the donations:

Wells Fargo Bank, First Security Bank, Bremer Bank, Midwest Bank, American National Bank, Bell State Bank and Trust, Central Market, Essentia Health, Lakeshirts, DLCCC by Jack Chivers Realty, Speak Easy by Detroit Lakes Morning Rotary Club, DL Newspapers, Sanford Health and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.

With this generosity we will continue to make ours a “warm” community. Thank you. — Pam Anderson, co-chair, 2013 Damien Mitten Tree Project
