Light pole falls on cars
Authorities are investigating a bizarre incident that happened Monday in downtown Detroit Lakes.
At 1:17 p.m. Detroit Lakes police and workers from the city of Detroit Lakes responded to a report of a light pole that had broken off and fallen onto two occupied cars.
The incident happened in front of the Lakes Sports Shop on the corner of Washington Avenue and Frazee Street.
According to the report, a retired Detroit Lakes police officer was sitting in one of the vehicles that was parked on the west side of the road when the pole came down onto the vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle struck was a woman stopped at a red light at that intersection.
There were no injuries, and according to witnesses, the pole was not pushed or struck by anything before it fell.
