Link Crew leaders once again welcomed freshmen to the Detroit Lakes High School on the first day of school.

The Link Crew has been an active part of the high school for the last three years. Link Crew is a group of juniors and seniors who are selected from a broad base of applicants. These students serve as mentors for our freshman throughout the school year.

They actively connect with the underclassmen with activities such as Bingo that was held on Sunday, Sept. 20, in the high school commons, different sporting events, Cocoa and Cram before finals, etc.

This program has been a huge success for the high school. Mike Labine, Anne Anderson, Steve Fode, Paul Lakin, Mary "Buf" Haus, Terry Eiter, Doreen Richter and Steve Morben serve as Link Leaders at the high school. Amy Lakin and Shad Nunn helped out with the training that took place in August for the leaders.

"Link Crew is such a great program, and helps freshman to become successful students at Detroit Lakes High School," said Mike Labine. "It is also a time to get to know each other on a less formal basis and have some fun while doing so."
