Lorraine (Lunde) Boe, 87, of Bemidji, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Neilson Place in Bemidji, surrounded by her family.
A celebration of Lorraine's life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, in New Salem Lutheran Church, Turtle River, with Rev. Karol Hendricks-McCracken officiating. There will be visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church, and lunch will follow the service.
Lorraine Lunde was born and raised by her beloved parents, Nels and Clemence (Krantz) Lunde, in Cooperstown, N.D. She proudly served in the U.S. Navy on Mare Island, Calif., in the Medical Corps during World War II. Lorraine married Russell Edland of Cooperstown, N.D., and they had three children: Candy, Kaia and Matthew.
During her marriage, Lorraine and her family lived in many interesting locations, where she made each a welcoming and loving home. She and Russell moved back to Cooperstown in 1974 to care for his aging parents. He died suddenly at the age of 62.
Lorraine was a gifted poet, artist and seamstress. Her works of haiku, Polish paper cutting, flower gardening, sewing, doll making and drawing were given freely to family and friends. Her wonderful gift of creativity and encouragement was given to her children and grandchildren. Her primary job was as homemaker and loving mother.
Lorraine worked for Community Action, a job that enabled her to help those that needed it, especially the elderly. She loved that she could help people in such a needed and meaningful way. Lorraine fell in love again and married her childhood friend, Alvin Boe of Cooperstown. They had a wonderful life of laughter, joy and many travels.
Surviving Lorraine are her loving husband, Alvin Boe of Bemidji; her loving daughters, Candy and Kaia Edland of Bemidji; daughter-in-law Marylou (Matthew-deceased) Edland of Fargo; stepsons Scott (Kathy) Boe of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Thomas (Connie) Boe of Fargo; sisters Corrine (Robert) Patrick of Atascadero, Calif., and Arlys (Tex) Little of Paso Robles, Calif.; sister-in-law Jean Cox of Columbine, Colo.; grandchildren, Sarah Christmann, Elizabeth Condiff, Carl Goughnour, Jacob, Grant, and Emily Edlund, Kristin, Katie and Robbie Boe, Cory and Tim Boe; and four great grandchildren.
