Lorraine J. Jacobson, 87, died Monday, February 7, 2011, in Valley Memorial Homes, Grand Forks, N.D.
Lorraine Janet Opsahl, the daughter of Lewis and Mabel (Evenson) Opsahl, was born January 29, 1924, in rural Syre, Minn., where she grew up. She graduated from Twin Valley High School in 1942.
On January 5, 1945, Lorraine married Jewitt Jacobson in Detroit Lakes. They lived in Detroit Lakes from 1948 until 1965. Lorraine worked in the office at Cass-Clay Creamery and as a clerk in the water and lights department in city hall. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes.
In 1965, they moved to Wahpeton, N.D. Lorraine enjoyed embroidery and quilting, especially with the Bethel Lutheran Church quilting group.
In 1985, the couple moved to Fargo. Lorraine's husband, Jewitt, died in 1988. After his death, she continued to live in Fargo. In January of 2008, Lorraine moved to Grand Forks and became a resident of Valley Memorial Homes.
Surviving Lorraine are her two daughters, Jan (Michael) Benson of Fargo and LeAnn Larson of Grand Forks; a brother, Eldred (Norma) Opsahl of Twin Valley; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday Feb. 12, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, with visitation for one hour preceding the service.
