You teach, you learn!

This is what 75 FCCLA members from around the state who attended a three-day leadership training at Bethel College in Arden Hills, Minn., on July 31-Aug. 2 learned.

Titled, “The Amazing Race,” the first phase of Family Career and Community Leaders of America Dynamic Leadership Training was implemented. Attending from LPA chapter were State Peer Educator Nellie Branchaud and State Vice President of Community Service Breann Hogie.

The Executive State Officer Team planned, practiced, trained and facilitated the activities for the camp previewing what will be implemented in the Fall Region Rallies.  Officers learned about marketing FCCLA and developed learning games for membership campaigns, the mission and purposes of the organization, public relations techniques, and national programs.

At leadership training camp, they taught the concepts using fun activities for the workshops planned for the Regional Officers, JHC and Peer Educators. Teaching calls for complete understanding of the concept. You can’t just “kind of get it” or know it just well enough to get by on a test; teaching calls for complete understanding of the concept.

This year’s Minnesota FCCLA State Theme is “Courage to Pursue, Dreams Come True.”

Working with the state theme in mind, the region officers have preliminary plans for the Region 6 Fall Rally which will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the Wheaton Community Center. Keynote speaker for the conference will be Erin Aarestad an inspirational speaker from Bethel College that encourages a “kindness boomerang.”

Following the keynote speaker, officers will present round table presentations on different FCCLA projects and information on upcoming events for the year.
