Former Detroit Lakes resident Lucia Howard, 75, of Bismarck, North Dakota, died Friday, June 6, 2014 at her daughter's home, under the care of St. Alexius Hospice.
Lucia, the daughter of Domenick and Nancy (Guglielmetti) Williams, was born on June 21, 1938 in Dearborn, Michigan. She was raised in Pomona, California.
Lucia graduated from Chaffey High School in Ontario. She was united in marriage to Orland Howard on February 15, 1958 in Pomona. They resided in California, Montana and Minnesota. Lucia worked at Norby's Department Store, Stage Department Store, as activity director at Becker County DAC, a surgical tech at St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes and as a CNA at Marcus Daily Hospital in Hamilton, Montana.
Lucia enjoyed crafts, scrapbooking, watching true crime TV and was an avid reader. She also loved traveling, hunting for antiques, decorating, shopping and having a good tea party with friends and family. Lucia was a classy lady and always made sure she was well dressed for any occasion.
Surviving Lucia are her husband, Orland Howard of Bismarck; children, Debby McPherson of Stevensville, Mont., James Howard of Hamilton, Mont., Lawrence Howard of Frazee and Mia Davis of Bismarck; 14 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Lawless of Riverside, Calif., and Marlene Bender of Chino, Calif.
Lucia was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Joseph Williams.

A mass of Christian burial is set for 1 p.m. Friday, June 13 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes, with Father Todd Arends as celebrant. There will be a visitation for one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in Richwood Lakeside Cemetery.
