A memorial service to celebrate the life of Lu Boyer will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes, with visitation for one hour prior to services.

Lu was born the daughter of C. Ernest and Anita (Hunsley) Aull on July 12, 1922. She was raised in Illinois and graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1940.

Lu was employed at Western Electric (Kolmar Office) in Chicago from 1941 through 1946, where she met her future husband.

On September 8, 1946 she was united in marriage to Chauncey A. Boyer at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Oak Park, Illinois. They made their home in Detroit Lakes.

Lu was active as a campfire and Cub Scout leader. She was a Charter member of the Damien Society, past member of Christian Mothers of Holy Rosary Church and Women's Association at the Detroit Country Club.

She enjoyed her family, grandchildren, playing golf, bridge, and Wednesday nights with the dinner group! Her cooking and baking skills were legendary.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Chauncey, in 2004; their daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Reed Ricker, in 1974; her parents, five brothers and two sisters.

Surviving Lu are two daughters, Susan Elaine Boyer of St. Louis Park, Minn., and Elizabeth Ann DesMarais of Detroit Lakes (temporarily); three sons, Steve (Jeanette) of Birmingham, Ala., Tom (Patty) of Hawley and Bryan (Lisa) of White House, Tenn.; five grandsons; two granddaughters; and one sister.

A special thanks to Hospice of the RRV and Liz Desmarais for their kind and loving care and comfort.
