Luella also worked for Swift Turkey Plant and later at Mayville's Luther Memorial Home as a CNA, as well as caring for her elderly mother. Colman passed away in 1999 and she remained at their Lake Sallie home until moving to the Park Manor in Detroit Lakes.

Luella was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes and recently had become a resident at Oak Crossing.
