Lund Lutheran joins LCMC
On Sunday, Lund Lutheran Church in rural Detroit Lakes had its final vote to disaffiliate with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
The congregation followed the procedures laid out by the ELCA for disaffiliation, by having two votes and with meetings with the ELCA bishops.
A two-thirds majority is required for a vote to pass. Following the vote to leave the ELCA, which passed, a vote was taken to become an associate with the Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ. All provisions are in place for Lund to become a part of LCMC.
Lund Lutheran Church has been part of a three-point parish, with Bakke and Richwood churches. Lund is now a stand-alone church that will be looking for a pastor to serve its congregation.
Pulpit Supply is in place for services. Services at Lund Lutheran will be at 9:45 a.m. Sundays and Sunday School 8:30 a.m.
Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ have been growing across the United States, with several churches in this area -- Pelican Rapids, Erhard, Perham, Moorhead and more voting to join.
