Feb. 7, 1956-May 31, 2009
Lynette M. Mulcahy, 53, of rural Audubon, died Sunday, May 31, 2009 at her home, surrounded by her beloved family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, after a courageous year long battle with cancer.
Lynette Marie Nylander was born to Lester and Veronica Nylander on Feb. 7, 1956 in Detroit Lakes. She was raised and educated in rural Audubon and was a 1974 graduate of Audubon High School.
Lynette married Keith Mulcahy on April 9, 1973 in St. Joseph, Mich. They made their home in rural Audubon, where Lynette worked for Randy's on Lake Eunice and the Cormorant Pub. For the past 17 years, she had been the assistant gambling manager for the Cormorant Sportsman's Club.
Lynette enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends, and in activities such as: vacationing at Gull Lake in Brainerd, going to water parks, enjoying sunny days in the backyard pool, planting and working with her flowers in the yard, making overnight trips to area casinos and attending musical concerts. She also enjoyed making Christmas and decorative wreaths for her family and friends.
Lynette was the greatest wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed by all, including her husband, Keith of rural Audubon; three daughters, Stacey (Matt) Anderson of Lake Park, Mandey (Jason Hunter) Mulcahy of Fargo and Christina (Justin) Wuollet of Audubon; six grandchildren; her mother, Veronica Nylander of Audubon; brother, Russell (Laura) Nylander of Moorhead; three sisters, LuAnn (Bob) Porter of Detroit Lakes, LaVonne (Rich) Langord of Moorhead and Lori Thompson of Audubon.
Lynette's father, Lester Nylander, preceded her in death.
The family would like to extend its deepest thanks to the staff at Roger Maris Cancer Center, Mayo Clinic, and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their wonderful care.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 3 and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, June 4 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in rural Detroit Lakes.
A mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, June 4 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert LaPlante officiating.
