M State offers new golf and virtual office programs
Two new programs will be offered beginning in fall 2012 at Minnesota State Community and Technical College, with the opportunity for students to earn a certificate in Virtual Office Professional and a diploma in Golf Management.
The 29-credit Virtual Office Professional program will prepare students to meet the growing need for virtual office services. The program is designed for students with previous work experience and education who are interested in careers as home-based independent contractors, providing clients with administrative, creative and technical services.
Demand in the profession has grown with the expansion of the Internet, the popularity of telecommuting and business downsizing. The Virtual Office Professional certificate will be offered on the Detroit Lakes campus and online through eCampus.
The Golf Management diploma combines classroom study with practical work experience to prepare students for a range of positions in the golfing industry or transfer to an associate degree or four-year degree program.
The 60-credit program combines business, marketing and management courses with golf-specific courses including golf fundamentals, pro shop operations, turf management and an internship.
The Golf Management diploma program is offered on the Fergus Falls campus.
