Mabel "Bub" Hanson, 87, of Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes.

Mabel was born to Oscar and Emma (Tingelstad) Paulson on Aug. 11, 1919 in Pelican Rapids, and was raised and educated in the Pelican Rapids area. As a young adult, she worked in the potato fields in northwest Minnesota, and later as a housekeeper for the Edge-water Resort, Lakeside Resort and Graystone Hotel in Detroit Lakes. Mabel married Harvey K. Hanson in Pelican Rapids. They made their home in the Detroit Lakes area, where they raised their six children. Harvey died on May 26, 1999.

Mabel was a member of First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking, playing cards, bird watching, fishing and watching Minnesota Twins baseball. She especially enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren.

Surviving Mabel are her children, Judy (George) Tabery of Per-ham, Esther (Don) Weickert of Shakopee, Minn., Lloyd (Cathy) Hanson of Mahnomen and Karen (Dean) Miller of Buffalo, Minn.; 18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a sister, Emelia (Harry) Bertram of Detroit Lakes; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Harvey; two sons, Douglas and Ronald Hanson; a granddaughter, Kimberley Hanson; a brother, Lloyd Paulson; as well as four sisters, Hilda Rudolph, Olga Dahring, Cora Paulson and Laura Paulson.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at First Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, with the Rev. H. Wade Dutton officiating. There wiill be visitation for one hour prior to the start of services.
