Mable H. Rustad, 88, of Hawley, died Saturday, February 16, 2008, in MeritCare's Palliative Care Unit, Fargo.
Mable was born to William and Maria Rosell on Feb. 27, 1919 in Woodworth, N.D. She grew up and attended school in Dale, Minn. She graduated from Lake Park High School in 1935. On Sept. 3, 1948 Mable married Har-vey Rustad in the Eksjo Lutheran Church Parsonage. Mable had finished her schooling at Moorhead Teachers College and taught country school at District 16 and later District 41 until it closed. She then taught second and third grade in Hitterdal until retiring in 1982.
Mable was a life long member of Eksjo Lutheran Church, serving with the ladies aid circles, Sunday school and quilting. Mable also belonged to the Dale Birthday Club. She moved to Hawley in 2004, and had more recently lived in Hawley Manor. She enjoyed baking, crossword puzzles and coffee with family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
Mable is survived by her son, Paul (Shirley) Rustad of Fargo; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Papke and Darlene Cash; brother-in-law, Harold Anderson; as well as sev-eral nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Harvey; and siblings Art Rosell, Esther Carlson, Anna Regier, Signe Larson, Frances Johnson, Carl Rosell and Margaret Anderson.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Eksjo Lutheran Church, Lake Park, with interment at Eksjo Lutheran Church Cemetery, Lake Park.
