Mahnomen girls' golf team headed to state
The Mahnomen girls' golf team is Class 1A state bound after winning the Section 6-1A meet Tuesday on the Pebble Lake Golf Course in Fergus Falls.
The Indian duo of junior Stephanie Trnka and sophomore Kyla Omang took the two top scores of the meet with an 85 and 88, respectively.
Their scores were backed up by seniors Kristin Hedstrom with 99 and Mylee Omang, 108, as well as sophomore Kaitlin Worm with 115. Rachel Refshaw rounded out Mahnomen's team card with a 162.
The Indians shot a 380 team score, which bettered second-place Ada-Borup's 405, United North Central's 419 and Barnesville/Rothsay's 421.
The Class 1A state meet will be held Wednesday and Thursday, June 3-4, at the Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker. The Indians will tee off at 11:40 a.m. each day.
