Mahnomen man charged with controlled substance
Luke Paul Wadena, 22, of 2235 College Road No. 304, Mahnomen has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime, possession.
According to court records, he was pulled over June 13 by a police officer for Callaway and Ogema after allegedly driving erratically in Ogema.
Field sobriety tests allegedly showed signs of impairment, such as difficulty maintaining balance, and he appeared to fall asleep during a brief period when the officer went to his squad car to get a testing device.
Wadena's blood alcohol level tested at .06 percent. The officer allegedly found a pill hidden in Wadena's car that he admitted was a Methadone pill. Wadena allegedly said he had taken a similar pill about eight hours previously.
He appeared June 14 before District Judge Joe Evans, who set bail or bond at $5,000 with conditions and $30,000 without conditions. His next court appearance is June 28.
