Maizie L. Lembke, 84, Detroit Lakes, died Sunday, May 3, 2009, in St. Mary's Innovis Health, Detroit Lakes.
Maizie was born on April 15, 1925, the daughter of Frank and Phoebe (Bingham) Roberts in Minersville, Utah. She was raised in Minersville, until moving to Long Beach, Calif., where she graduated from high school. After graduation, she worked at a Lockheed Defense Plant as a riveter during World War II. Maizie was united in marriage to Melvin A. Lembke on June 1, 1946, in Van Nuys, Calif. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 1958, and raised their three sons on Little Floyd Lake. She donated much of her time to the church and was an active part of its beginnings in Detroit Lakes.
Maizie enjoyed playing whist, volleyball and bowling. The time she enjoyed most was the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Maizie is survived by her three sons, Fred Lembke, Polo, Mo., Jack (Linda) Lembke, St. George, Utah, Scott (Christine) Lembke, Detroit Lakes; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Lorraine Roberts, Garden Valley, Idaho, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Maizie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin; daughter-in-laws, Sarah Lembke and Janell Lembke; three brothers and four sisters.
The funeral service is Thursday, May 7, 2009, at 10 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Detroit Lakes.
Interment is in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
Visitation is Wednesday, May 6, from 6-8 p.m. in West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.
