'Mama's Night Out' at Holmes Theatre Friday

The Detroit Lakes High School theater department presents its fall musical, "Les Miserables," at 3 p.m. today (Sunday) in the George Simson Auditorium, Detroit Lakes Middle School. Additional performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. nightly on Nov. 6-8.

The classic Lerner & Loew musical "Camelot" will be presented at the Waage Fine Arts Theatre on the campus of Minnesota State Community & Technical College-Fergus Falls, starting at 2 p.m. today. The second annual Mother-Son Football Frenzy gives boys (ages 2-12) and their moms, aunts, grandmothers or special friends an opportunity to share the love of football. Held in the Holmes Ballroom on Sunday, Nov. 16, from noon to 2 p.m., this casual afternoon event offers the game on the big screen, football drills led by DLHS Laker football players, classic football snacks and photo opportunities including a starting line-up called by the "Voice of the Lakers," Andy Lia.  The cost is $10 for moms and $5 for boys. The Fifth Annual Holmes Art Show, which takes place at the Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center's Holmes Ballroom Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 20-23, will give area art patrons the opportunity to take in work by some of the area's best artists. More than 20 artists will display paintings, sculpture, pottery, glasswork, collage and other fine arts. The show kicks off with a special "Celebrate Art" Cabaret Night on Thursday, Nov. 20, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. It will run from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The event is free and open to the public.
