Man accused of triple knife threat

A Morton, Minn., man made his first appearance last week in Becker County District Court on multiple felony charges including two counts of second degree assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of terroristic threats.

Simon Louis Rogers, 38, of 40392 Dakota Trail, Morton, was attending a party at a White Earth residence during the early morning hours of Nov. 17 when he was allegedly asked to leave.

According to the criminal complaint, he reportedly returned to the residence a short time later, carrying three knives, and allegedly threatened to kill everyone inside, and then reportedly brandished one of the knives in the face of one of the men inside, narrowly missing him.

He also allegedly came after a woman at the residence with one of the knives, causing her to flee into the woods nearby until law enforcement arrived.

After the officers arrived, they found the defendant in the driveway near one of the vehicles parked there, holding a baseball bat. After subduing him, the officers found three knives lying on the ground nearby.

Rogers is currently at the Becker County Jail awaiting his next court appearance, at a Dec. 9 omnibus hearing. His bail was set at $30,000 with conditions, or $70,000 without conditions.
