Man charged for assault
A Hitterdal man has been charged in Becker County District Court with one felony count of third degree criminal sexual conduct.
Jeffrey Lee Walz, 39, of 105 Wilson St., Hitterdal, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a Detroit Lakes apartment on March 9.
According to court records, Walz allegedly arranged to have the woman come to the residence so he could work on her car. She was invited inside the apartment, but quickly became uncomfortable and said she was going to leave.
Walz then allegedly pushed the woman down on the couch and said he wanted to have sex with her. Though she said no, he then allegedly held her down by the shoulders, undressed himself, then pulled down her pants and underwear and ordered her to take off her shirt.
At that point, he then allegedly forced the woman to have sex with him.
Walz is currently in custody at the Becker County Jail awaiting his next court appearance, at an April 28 omnibus hearing. His bail was set at $40,000 with conditions, or $75,000 without conditions.
